Carole David founded the Paris Women's Dragon Boat Association in 2016, the French Phoenix & Dragons, and named it "Dragon and Phoenix Team".
What makes this team special is that the rowers are all women who have experienced cancer.
Because dragon boat racing can help with cancer recovery, especially breast cancer.
For 8 years, the team has practiced every Saturday morning.
The Phoenix & Dragons team competes every year in the Vogalonga race in Venice and the Traverseine race in Paris. Carole David is active in promoting sports and health and has a university degree in cancer care and a federal certification as a dragon boat coxswain.
She has been rowing dragon boats since 2016 and competed in the French Championships in 2018 with the Toulouse team.
Phoenix & Dragons Dragon Boat Association won the Favorite Trophy of the French National Associations and Foundations Forum in 2017, as well as the Paris Medal and Nautes Seal in 2019.
In 2020, the association received the AXA Solidarity Trophy and in 2022 the first prize of the Paris Airports Foundation. Our goal with the "Phoenix&Dragons" association is to promote dragon boating in France and welcome people who need a period of regular exercise during recovery.
Carole David is the founder of PPFD, the first competitive dragon boat club in Paris, and the first dragon boat team in Paris.
